I wanted to write a post to commemorate one of my favorite authors and dearest heroes, Brian Jacques.
Brain Jacques is, in my opinion, one of the greatest story-tellers that have ever lived. Great stories for kids of all ages flow from him and he has been a joy to read since I picked up the first of his series "Redwall" when I was twelve years old. I remember being frightened by the sound recording I listened to, as Cluny the Scourge killed one of his whimpering whelps by crushing him under the wheel of the cart that they rode on.
I also remember one of my favorite books of his, “Castaway of the Flying Dutchmen” one of his off series books that he wrote of a young boy who gets stuck on board the Flying Dutchmen. The boy is a castaway near the tip of Cape Horn and gets cared for by an odd shepherd. After a while he moves on to England and helps a small town keep their land from being taken by a greedy businessman by looking for deeds to an old house of an old Sailor Captain. The Captain’s passing left his sweet old widow the key to saving her village.
I am not sure if you guys have ever watched table top games on the channel Geek N Sundry, but that show is my go to pass time for lunch at work, my favorite time waster, and a regular inspiration for new games to buy for me and my friends. I want to start a segment post on our company blog now to share with you games that my friends and I play every Tuesday at Game Hunter’s in Frederick Maryland.
